Running out of disk space and want to clean it while keeping all the necessary apps intact?
Tech Aficionado brings you a way in which you can clean your c drive to make your computer even faster. Disk space is generally occupied by lots of different temporary files stored due to the running of various software on your PC. Personally, I use software from Adobe Suites and a lot of clutter is accumulated. So in this article, I'll be telling you how to clean the C drive without using any external plugins or third-party apps. All the methods are organic and work like a charm.
First Method
Hit "Windows+R" and type "prefetch" and then hit "Enter". I
It might ask for permission, you can go ahead and click on continue, it's absolutely safe. Select all the files by pressing "Ctrl+A" and hit Shit+Delete. It's best to delete these temporary files permanently otherwise there's no point in cleaning these files.
A tab might pop up showing to try again or skip, you may skip those files.
Second Method
Hit "Windows+R" and type "temp" and then hit "Enter". It also might ask for permission, hot on continue. Do the same process all over again, shift+delete after selecting all the files, and skip those files that are interrupting the process.
Third Method
Hit "Windows+R" and type "%temp%" and then hit "Enter". Repeat the same whole process by selecting all and shift deleting all the files and skipping the files that interrupt the task.
Fourth Method
This might sound like a cliché but this can also be the reason behind the slow speed of your system. Empty your recycle bin, the data restored in recycle bin are also saved in your "C" drive so make sure to empty it.
Disk Clean Up
Search for disk cleanup and select C drive and hit "Ok"
Then check all the boxes and the hit "OK" and then a popup will appear asking to delete those files permanently, hit "Delete Files" and a lot of extra space will be made in your C drive hence boosting the speed of your computer
Optimize your C drive
Left-click on your "C" drive and click on properties
In the tools panel, click on "Optimize and the select "C" drive and click on optimize again
After following each of the methods you might observe a drastic space change in your C drive which will lead to increased speed of your system. So far the "Disk Cleanup" works the best.
