Unable to track which websites have your personal data and want to get rid of them?
Well, Tech Aficionado brings you an amazing article on how to remove your digital footprint in few clicks.
To begin with, the website you will be using will apparently require access to your account as they have to take actions that can be only taken when they've access to some of the features of your account.
Here's the link to the website: www.saymine.com
As the name suggests, discover where your personal data is and manage your digital footprint. You decide where you want to keep your data and where you don’t. The basic idea behind this is that all the users and/or customers have the right to know where their data is stored and should have full access to whether or not they want their data to be kept with a company. For example, you ordered food from a restaurant using their own website and filled in information such as name, email id, your address, and whatnot, but you didn't like the food much and now you want to get your data removed from their database, so this website makes it way easier to do this. All you need to do is to make an account on this website "Say Mine". It asks to access your account and shows you all the digital footprints you have associated with the same account.
Once you complete making your account, there will be an option "My Footprint", as soon as you click on that, you'll be getting the lists of companies that hold your data.
After going through all the companies, you can decide which company you want your data to be or not to be, just hover over the company and you'll get an option to reclaim your data, basically, delete your data from that company.
On clicking on "Reclaim", you will get a pop-up showing a draft email that will be sent to the company about your concern for the data. Since "SayMine" has access to your email, they will automatically send this email when you "Send Request".
After sending this, in a day or two, you get an e-mail from the company that either your data has been removed or a step-by-step procedure on how to remove data from their database. So that's quite simple.
Now coming to the genuinity of the website "SayMine", on checking it up, the company is no older than approximately 6 years. But I read reviews and testimonials that this a solid company and doesn't use your data and in fact is a great website for removing digital footprint. So far, I believe that data is the most important thing and one must look after where his/her data is present.
